PA Chamber President and CEO Gene Barr said incumbent lawmakers and candidates for open seats earned the business community’s support because of their commitment and willingness to advance policies that will foster a robust private-sector, grow the Commonwealth’s economy and improve the state’s fiscal well-being in an effort to move Pennsylvania forward.

Barr said votes on key legislation, amendments and procedural action, along with responses to candidate questionnaires, help to determine endorsement support.

Eagle Forum from Alton, IL

“I want to bring to your attention Representative Rick Saccone, who is running for re-election to the Pennsylvania State House 39th District. The district includes part of Allegheny and Washington counties.
When Rick ran and won in 2010, he promised to (1) refuse the State legislative pension, (2) vote for a balanced budget without tax increases, (3) eliminate “walking around money,” (4) work to pass the Castle Doctrine to allow citizens to defend themselves in their own homes, and (5) institute welfare reforms including drug testing for welfare recipients. Rick has kept each of these promises. Rick is currently sponsoring or co-sponsoring bills that will (1) impose term limits on State legislators, (2) place a moratorium on property tax reassessments and reform school property taxes, (3) reduce the size of the PA House of Representatives from 203 to 153, (4) end massive taxpayer-funded State pensions and move to a 401(k)-style pension system, and (5) privatize the State-owned liquor stores.
Dr. Saccone is a professor of political science at St. Vincent College. A life-long resident of the area, he and his wife Yong live in Elizabeth Township. They are the proud parents of two adult sons. Rick is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Military Officers Association of America, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a long-time member of Firearms Owners Against Crime.
Recognized as a devoted Pro-life advocate Representative Saccone is endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation and People Concerned for the Unborn Child.”

The Republican Committee of South Park

“The South Park Republican Committee has voted unanimously to endorse State Representative Rick Saccone for a second term as representative from the 39th District.  In considering their endorsement, the committee noted that Representative Saccone has championed property tax reform as a cosponsor of HB 1776 and has led the fight for term limits as the prime sponsor of HB 2160.  The committee further noted that his opponent, West Jefferson Hills School Director Shauna D’Alessandro, has raised property taxes twice in her district and was recruited to run against Rep. Saccone by former representative Dave Levdansky.  “Representative Saccone is doing a fantastic job, and we look forward to his continued leadership in the house,” said Chairman Mark Anania.

“We hope our fellow Republicans in South Park will support Representative Saccone in his election.”

Berks County, Pennsylvania – The Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations (PCTA), a statewide grassroots education finance reform alliance, today announced its endorsement of State Representative Rick Saccone for Pennsylvania Legislative District 39 in the November 6
general election.

In making its endorsement, the PCTA noted Representative Saccone’s unequivocal support for House Bill 1776, the Property Tax Independence Act, pending legislation that will eliminate and equitably replace school property taxes and restructure a crumbling, antiquated education
finance system. David Baldinger, spokesperson for the PCTA, said: “Representative Saccone began his work
with the PCTA for total school property tax elimination more than two years ago and has remained firmly committed to the Property Tax Independence Act to accomplish that goal. This is in sharp contrast to his opponent who, in twenty-six years as a State Representative,
accomplished nothing to help beleaguered homeowners but instead introduced and continues to promote worthless property tax “relief” schemes that are nothing more than tax increases in disguise. The residents of the 39th Legislative District have an honest, dedicated
Representative in Mr. Saccone. To revert to a career politician like his opponent who will deceive the taxpayers to win this office would be a huge step backward for the property tax elimination movement, the 39th District, and for Pennsylvania. The PCTA is pleased to support candidates like Representative Saccone who are willing to work for true property tax reform in a General Assembly that has historically avoided a resolution to this issue. The Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayer Associations wishes Representative Rick Saccone much success in his
reelection bid for the District 39 House seat.”

The PCTA is an alliance of seventy-six grassroots taxpayer advocacy groups from across Pennsylvania that is dedicated to equitable education funding reform through the principles and mechanism of the Property Tax Independence Act.
